What is Parkpedia?

So, this is a new website. Reader, meet Website. Website, Reader. Now that introductions are out of the way, let me explain what this website will be.

There are many theme park fan sites, all with countless pieces of information that are greatly beneficial to readers. Casual readers can learn everything they need to know to plan their next trip to the parks. But what about those super theme park nerds? Yes, those people that hook up their iPods to download podcasts instead of music. Those people that take “research trips” just to see the new refurbishment to their favorite dark ride. Those people that will wade through bushes just to take a picture of a minute reference to a past attraction, ignoring the strange looks from the families trying to enjoy their vacation.

If that just described you, welcome to your website. Parkpedia is a theme park encyclopedia, a wonderful reference tool for theme park enthusiasts to learn anything and everything about theme parks; past, present, and in some cases, future. The site is a comprehensive collection (hence the .cc) of articles based on all aspects of theme parks, and since it is represented in a website format, it will continue to grow as the surrounding community grows!

Mark your calendars! Parkpedia will have a “soft opening” on May 25th, 2012. The first set of articles will all come from a handful of attractions located in Universal’s Islands of Adventure. Unlike the Walt Disney World parks, there is very little information available about Islands of Adventure, so Parkpedia will be your main resource for learning about this fantastic and underrepresented park.

If you want to connect with the growing Parkpedia community, click the Contact tab above to see our Facebook, Twitter, and Google+ pages. Hope to talk to you soon!
